New CNG compressor hits market in Canada
July 20, 2016
Clean Energy Fuels Corp., a manufacturer of non-lubricated compressed natural gas (CNG) compressors, has introduced the CleanCNG, a heavy duty, non-lubricated compressor for the natural gas fueling market.
Engineers at Clean Energy’s subsidiary, Clean Energy Compression in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada, developed the CleanCNG.
The new compressor features a standardized and modular design, with configurations between 150 to 300 hp (112 to 224 kW). The design results in low vibrations and noise, with measurements at 75 dB(A), the company said. These measurements also exceed API 618 and recommended industry guidelines, Clean Energy Fuels said.
The CleanCNG’s control systems, assembly and enclosure are also constructed to be mated together in an expandable manner. Proprietary heat management ensures that heated air is not recirculated between compressors, with performance staying consistent regardless of the number of compressors, the company said.
The new unit has already caught the attention of TransLink, the regional transit authority in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. TransLink has purchased six of the new CleanCNG units, Clean Energy Fuels said.
